In 18th-century England, amidst a Jacobite uprising and an outbreak of pox, Sir Chauncey and Lady Savage are invited to host the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The Savages are obsequious social climbers, with razor-sharp tongues and delusions of grandeur who believe that this event will be enough to clear their many debts and restore their tarnished name. They scrub and scheme to stage a lavish banquet, but preparations spiral into duels, decadence and bloodshed. A darkly comic satire of class, spectacle and snobbery with delightfully wicked performances.
