During World War II young Mahito is relocated to his father and stepmother’s house in the countryside. Still deep in grief following his mother’s tragic death, he struggles to settle into his new life. His new world suddenly becomes even stranger when he encounters a talking heron who takes him on a fantastical realm. A visually spectacular film about being brave enough to accept the pain and revel in the joys of being human.
