Three of this week's films are quietly preoccupied with the past.

A bank robber discovers his brother has forgotten where he hid the money in The Last Viking. A black comedy built on the particular absurdity of plans gone wrong.

A Private Life takes a darker turn, following a therapist who enlists her ex-husband to investigate after losing a patient.

And Blue Heron offers a moving study of memory from a child's perspective, as her family moves continents.

Plus follow an outspoken girl growing up during the Islamic Revolution in Persepolis, an enthralling animation, part of our BFI Rip it Up season. With an introduction from animator Efa Blosse-Mason in tribute to her hero, Marjane Satrapi, on Sunday.
